SUMMER TERM, 2008

The Summer Term commences on Tuesday, 15th April, 2008, with a number of planned events that will be posted on this site.

IPSWICH TOWN V MANCHESTER UNITED (Under 18s match): 25th April @ 19.30.

Well done to all those who applied for and received tickets to the match.  We had fifty tickets available - free - and they all went within four days.  The quality of applications was impressive, so well done to all those who took the time and effort to present your requests so carefully and convincingly!

CPOC SELF-HELP CLUB AFTERNOON: 7th March at 14.15

Many thanks to those parents and governors who attended the CPOC training session on Friday, 7th March.  There was a short presentation where some of the children demonstrated exercises, both old and new, followed by a general discussion. A pack of exercises was also made available exclusively for those who attended.  We hope to follow this up with a similar demonstration later in the year.  Earlier in the afternoon a large group of children were assessed for the CPOC Instructor Level 1, 2 and 3 certificates, were presented during the following week's Special Awards Assembly.

PARENT-HELPER READING SESSION: 25th February at 14.45

This meeting was open to anyone who was currently a parent-helper, or who thought they would like to become a a parent-helper some time in the future.  The meeting took place in the school hall on Monday, 25th February at 14.45.  This is to discuss our approach to helping a child learn to read.  We were really encouraged by the attendance, with thirty parents taking part.  Further events, linked to this theme, will be organised in the near future.

CHILDMINDER - ELMSTEAD PRIMARY SCHOOL LINK MEETING: 18th March at 14.30

This meeting was held to enable us to create better links with our local child minders, and with this in mind we invited childminders into school on Tuesday, 18th March.  There was provision made for any younger children in the school.  By logging on to the Community section of this website you can find some initial links for contacting local childminders - all being OfSTED approved.

CHRISTMAS INFANT SHOW - REPORT

by Lewis (Year 2)

Following the Infant Show Mrs Hardman asked the class to recount the nativity story:

Once upon a time there lived a lady called Mary and a man called Joseph.  They had to travel to where they were born.  Mary was tired and she could not walk any longer, so a donkey carried Mary all the way to Bethlehem.  But, the donkey could not handle it, so they had to walk again.

Mary wanted a child, but God gave to Mary Jesus.  Jesus is special, because he is God's son.  So they brought Jesus from the stable and they all lived together.  The angels came to Bethlehem and told Mary and Joseph their good news and then the shepherds came to Bethlehem and gave their gifts to Jesus, when he was asleep.  They put his gifts on the bed, but then the wise men came to Bethlehem and gave him gifts as well.  One of the gifts was a gold crown and they lived happily ever after.

A very confident retelling.  Well done!
